National and international policymakers are faced with the need to take difficult decisions under conditions of great uncertainty: In a positive scenario, the DRC will harness the opportunities from the green transition to achieve a sustainable approach to development – improve governance, strengthen the situation of marginalized groups including women, and protect global common goods like biodiverse carbon sinks. In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), amidst the multi-layered, entrenched conflict shaping the lives of millions of people, climate change threatens to deepen divisions over biodiversity protection and resource extraction.
